Emergence

Emergence is an algorithmic design elective focusing on the emergent properties of swarm intelligence. the course examined how complex and strange qualities can materialize from the combination of a series of simple behaviours working together. A focus was placed on two things: the design of a process which enables students to test and produce infinite outcomes, and the evaluation of the success of each outcome. the critique of each outcome informed changes to the process, which were then redeveloped, driving a feedback loop between process and outcome.
