In this course we will examine how to create simple architectural drawings inside Rhino from a 3D model. We will be using the model we created in the Rhino Modelling for Architects course, which is the Neu Nationalgalerie by architect Mies Van Der Rohe.

We will attempt to replicate a similar minimal drawing style achieved by architect David Chipperfield in the drawings of his teams renovation of the Neu Nationalgalerie. In this course, we will examine a variety of different ways to create typical architectural drawings with this project.

What will you learn in each video?

There are typically two ways to create different drawing styles in Rhino: raster drawings and vector drawings. This lesson will explain the difference between the two styles.

This lesson will explore how to export raster drawings from your Rhino model, including plans, elevations, sections, perspective sections and exploded axonometric drawings.

Vector drawings are more suitable for presentations and publishing, and use lines that we can stylize with lineweights. This lesson will explore how to setup a series of architectural vector drawings in Rhino.

Rhino Layouts provide us with a place to locate 2D drawing from our Rhino modelspace. This lesson will examine how to setup layouts and add model views to your page.

In Rhino, we can control lineweights through our object properties. This lesson will explore how to apply stylistic lineweights to architectural drawings.

This lesson will examine how to print and export our layout drawings from Rhino.

Sometimes you might want to add more realism to your drawings. It’s really easy to achieve this in Rhino with a few simple steps. This lesson will explore how to add shadows to a perspective section drawing.

You might want to add an extra layer of detail to your drawing in the form of cars, people, vegetation and furniture. This lesson will recommend a number of different websites you can download free CAD blocks of these detailed drawing assets.
