Differential Aggregations

Part of the Augmented Assemblies Design Studio, Differential Aggregations investigates a series of high-resolution, mass customized timber assemblies fabricated with the assistance of augmented reality. Augmented Assemblies investigated the relationship between timber & woodworking craftsmanship and mixed reality construction techniques at architectural scale. Students used digital tools to create large matrices of designs borne out of their algorithms, and were taught how to evaluate the qualities of their iterations through themes of emergence, pattern, composition, intricacy and assembly.
